Canon 7D

So, I’ve been using the Canon 7D DSLR for about a week now and I must say, this is an impressive piece of hardware. This camera has significant advantages over my previous 40D, but the real seller is the Full HD video capability. A whole new world has opened up for me with this feature and I’m anxious to explore it more. I created a new Vimeo account in preparation for future productions. HOW TO: ‘GodMode’ in Windows 7

Looking for a way to manage all the settings for your Windows 7 machine in one place? Here is the answer. Create a folder and rename it to…

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

The folder icon will change and the name will simply read ‘GodMode’. Within this new folder are options to change virtually every setting of the operating system.

Gizmodo Gallery @ NYC

This weekend I’ll be in New York for Gizmodo Gallery 2009. In preparation for my trip, I rented a Canon 10-22mm lens that I hope to capture some great shots of the gallery with.

Dell XPS 630

My new computer came in today. This thing is a beast! If this can’t run Adobe CS4 to its full potential, nothing can.

So, what are we looking at?

  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad (12M, 3.0GHz, 1333FSB)
  • Memory: 8GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz

The video cards are the most impressive part of this workstation… CrossFireX, Dual ATI Radion HD 4870′s with 1024MB of memory.

Holy Jim Trail with Trails App

This weekend I experimented with a new app for iPhone. The Trails app tracks your hike progress with GPS to record location, distance, elevation, speed, etc. and then allows you to upload the recorded data to EveryTrail.com. The data was surprisingly acurate, however the app must remain open for the service to work. This gives the battery quite a workout. My 3 hour hike used about 40% of the charge.

iPhone 3GS

The new iPhone 3GS was released today. Since June 29, 2007, I’ve carried the same iPhone around and have miraculously managed to not loose it or break it. Therefore, it was with some reluctance that I decided to shut it down and make the switch to the newer, faster model. Blog posts from now on should display noticeably better picture quality, and once the iPhone WordPress App is upgraded, videos should stat making an appearance on here as well!
