May 8th, 2010Dodge Magnum Timing Belt Replacement
May 1st, 2010As part of the scheduled maintenance for Magnum, the timing belt had to be replaced. The Chrysler service department quoted me at $900. The belt itself was $150. After doing some research and acquiring a service manual, I was able to replace it in the garage. The crank pulley removal turned out to be the most challenging step; requiring a three-prong gear puller with a center punch. After that, it was just a matter of removing bolts, swapping the belt, and tightening everything back up.
Don the Beachcomber
April 22nd, 2010Just north of Sunset Beach, on the edge of the Pacific Coast Highway, is a great little Hawaiian restaurant called “Don the Beachcomber”. They have a wide variety of foods and flavors and an exotic mix of stiff drinks that will sell you on the presentation alone.

April 21st, 2010Disneyland Bokeh
April 18th, 2010It’s about time I start putting this Canon 7D to use. Below is a short film I made, shot on location at Disneyland. The filter effect I used is called bokeh. By cutting a shape into a lens cap and affixing it to the end of the camera, you can create amazing effect in the out-of-focus areas of the image. The footage was shot at 24fps using a 50mm prime lens at f/1.8.
I hope you like it…

Canon 7D
March 26th, 2010So, I’ve been using the Canon 7D DSLR for about a week now and I must say, this is an impressive piece of hardware. This camera has significant advantages over my previous 40D, but the real seller is the Full HD video capability. A whole new world has opened up for me with this feature and I’m anxious to explore it more. I created a new Vimeo account in preparation for future productions. February 25th, 2010Captain EO back at Disneyland
February 23rd, 2010Many things come and go in our lives that we look fondly upon as we develop an understanding for the inevitability that they will be gone forever. It’s a finality that we ultimately come to embrace as we look back with nostalgia and wonder what it would be like to get back that which we have lost.
Life is not without it’s exceptions, though. Once in a while, we are awarded a chance to see and relive moments of the past. Disneyland has awarded us with such a chance; the return of Captain EO.
Make it a priority to revisit this classic from the 80′s. This rare opportunity wont last forever!
