Captain EO back at Disneyland

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Many things come and go in our lives that we look fondly upon as we develop an understanding for the inevitability that they will be gone forever. It’s a finality that we ultimately come to embrace as we look back with nostalgia and wonder what it would be like to get back that which we have lost.

Life is not without it’s exceptions, though. Once in a while, we are awarded a chance to see and relive moments of the past. Disneyland has awarded us with such a chance; the return of Captain EO.

Make it a priority to revisit this classic from the 80’s. This rare opportunity wont last forever!

Rivers of America

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

The “Rivers of America” at Disneyland are mostly empty, leaving the Mark Twain and the Columbia Tall Ship dry docked.

The tree is up!

Friday, November 20th, 2009

It seems as though Disneyland as made it their personal responsibility to usher in the holiday season by having the first Christmas Tree up and lit in Southern California.

First flight?!

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

Is it unreasonable to request your own Star Speeder 3000 on a crowded Saturday night at Disneyland? Apparently, it’s not!

Dyson Airblade

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

I saw a commercial for this about two years ago and thought it looked pretty cool. Today I saw one installed in a bathroom at Disneyland. In true Dyson fashion, it actually works quite well.

The real “Tow Mater”

Monday, July 20th, 2009

If you’ve seen the Disney/Pixar film “Cars”, you’re undoubtedly familiar with the character, Tow Mater. Tonight at Disneyland, he was parked in the Chip and Dale parking lot!

Mariachi Divas

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

This weekend the Mariachi Divas performed at Tortilla Joe’s in Downtown Disney. If you haven’t heard of them, you should check out their site… http://www.mariachidivas.com

They won a Gramy for cryin’ out loud!

Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

While I am a big fan of Steve Martin and his presentation of “Disneyland – The First 50 Magical Years”, I’m thrilled to see the return of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln at the Main Street Opera House. The historical and educational value coupled with Disney nostalgia make this one of my favorite attractions in the park.

Jedi Acadamy

Monday, April 27th, 2009

I’ve seen the signs, but have never seen the actual show. The Jedi Academy is perhaps one of the most entertaining live performances in Disneyland. The show enlists the help of several kids in the audience to engage in a light-saber battle with Darth Vader himself! The equally menacing Sith lord, Darth Maul, makes an appearance as well. I’m quite familiar with his role in Episode One and even I struggled to identify if the stage performer was the actually the real Darth Maul. His technique was flawless!

Under the sea…

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Today I renewed my Disneyland Annual Passport and got a chance to check out the latest construction at Disney’s California Adventure. There is a whole mess of building materials in the lake bed and several incomplete structures. There were a few construction crews walking around in the late afternoon, but otherwise not a lot of activity.
